As the summer days began to wind down and the looming school year approached, our family decided to seize the opportunity for one last adventure together. With its charming Town Square, art museums, and delectable and diverse dining options, Sugar Land, Texas proved to be the perfect destination for our family getaway.
Here's a glimpse of how we made the most of our weekend before our son heads back to school.
Friday: Arrival & Exploring Town Square
Our adventure began on a sunny Friday afternoon as we checked into the comfortable and welcoming Houston Marriott Sugar Land hotel. The hotel's prime location provided easy access to the heart of Sugar Land, where we couldn't wait to explore.
After settling in, we strolled over to the Sugar Land Town Square, a lively hub of shops, restaurants, and entertainment. The town square had free events happening throughout the weekend!
The evening was capped off with a flavorful dinner at B.B. Italia Bistro & Bar, where we savored authentic Italian cuisine. It was the perfect way to kick-start our weekend.
Enjoy the family friendly atmosphere and photo ops at Constellation Field.
An Evening of Sports and Entertainment
Post-dinner, we ventured to Constellation Field, home of the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, the official Triple-A Minor League Baseball affiliate of the Houston Astros. The atmosphere was electric, and our son was thrilled to meet the team's mascot, Orion. The game was exciting and the post-game fireworks display was nothing short of spectacular. Tip (Enjoy Friday's home game this season complete with post-game fireworks every week). We all had a blast, and the excitement in the air was infectious.
Immerse yourself into the fantasy-filled world of Department of World.
Saturday: A Day of Exploration
On Saturday, we began our day at the Yemeni Coffee House Haraz, sipping on fragrant Arabica coffee and indulging in delicious bakery treats. It was a cozy start to our day of exploration.
Next on our list was the Department of Wonder, an award-winning immersive experience that captivated our imaginations and allowed us to escape reality. The interactive exhibits were perfect for family fun, and we found ourselves lost in a world of wonder and creativity. Must do for kids over age of 5.
Of course, a family getaway wouldn't be complete without a little shopping. We headed to First Colony Mall, where we browsed a variety of stores, picking up souvenirs and gifts along the way.
For dinner, we decided to try something new and ventured to Karahi Boys, a restaurant specializing in traditional Pakistani cuisine. The flavors were exquisite, and it was a delightful culinary adventure. Definitely recommend the family Naan, kebabs and chicken dum biryani !
Sunday: Brunch and Farewell
As Sunday rolled around, it was time to bid farewell to Sugar Land. But before we checked out, we enjoyed a leisurely brunch at Sweet Paris. Savory and sweet crepes were the order of the day, and we relished every bite. It was the perfect way to conclude our getaway. Love they have both indoor and outdoor seating!

It was a reminder of the importance of making the most of every moment, especially before the busy school year kicks in.Sugar Land has so much to offer for families and we can’t wait to return for more family fun in the future. I am looking forward to coming back snd checking out the local parks next and take our son to Go Ape Zipline and Adventure Park as fall season kicks in Texas.
