On July 20, 2019, will officially mark the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing and humanity’s first steps on the moon.

This singular moment in human history has been recollected and celebrated by many over the past 50 years. With less than a month away until the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, several space aficionados in Sugar Land are gearing up to celebrate the most memorable week in space.

Festival 11:00 am – 2:00 pm; Stargazing 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm

It’s the celebration of a very special day in science history – the 50th anniversary of the first lunar landing!  The daytime festival will be packed with stellar crafts and activities.  Join a NASA Ambassador to imagine what it might be like to live on the moon one day, listen to our expert docent talk about NASA’s past (and future!) with the moon, or read a space-related book to our PAWS therapy dog team – there’s so much to do! Add in special Science on a Sphere & Digital Dome presentations, plus moon-themed snacks – it all equals “spaced-out” fun!

If the weather permits, be sure to come back in the evening from 8:00 pm – 11:00 pm for stargazing with volunteer astronomers from the HMNS George Observatory.  Just look for telescopes on the lawn on the south side of the museum and take your very own flight of fancy to the stars.
