Sugar Free

Spending time in Sugar Land doesn't mean you have to spend a ton of money. Actually, some of the best events and attractions will cost you absolutely nothing!

Sugar Land Town Square is a vibrant venue located in Sugar Land's downtown district made up of residential, commercial, retail, and dining destinations. Sugar Land Town Square always has something sweet for the entire family to do and enjoy. Now, if you’re in the mood for something sweet or a quick bite, there will definitely be some money-handling involved. From the months of April through December you can always find something exciting for the family to enjoy at Sugar Land Town Square's various free events. From hosting a picnic, taking a Zumba class, live music performances, or a movie on the big screen, and everything in between.

If a day spent outdoors is more up your alley, Sugar Land has over 2,123 acres of developed park land. Kick off your day by exploring the Oyster Creek Trail which allows you to enjoy two parks in one trail route, Oyster Creek Park and Lost Creek Park with some Instagram-worthy backdrops. Now, if you’re looking to cool off glide onto Brooks Lake with your canoe or kayak and admire the urban scenery or visit the splash pad on the plaza adjacent to the Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land.  Additionally, we suggest you packing a light lunch to enjoy a picnic on the green space nearby.

Want to appreciate great local art? Visit the Sugar Land Art Center & Gallery where local and nationally acclaimed artists showcase their pieces along the gallery walls. You may even be lucky enough to observe an artist's work-in-progress as this site is also a working studio. The range in technique and expression at this hidden gem is so satisfying to behold.

Spend an afternoon at the Sugar Land Regional Airport observation area by spending some personal time mediating or admiring the planes take off. But, if you’re there with the family and children watch the sweet memories unfold.

A must free thing to do in Sugar Land is to visit the Farmers Market at Imperial every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for fresh produce, food trucks, and artisan gifts.

If you find yourself visiting Sugar Land in October or already live here, head to the annual Gulf Coast International Dragon Boat Regatta and immerse yourself in onshore cultural performances throughout the day while the competition heats up on the water.
