Join Visit Sugar Land on May 5-11, 2019 as we celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week! This year's theme is "Travel Matters." Our ultimate goal each year in observing National Travel and Tourism Week is to increase Sugar Land’s visitors’ and residents knowledge of what our city has to offer.
Additionally, it is a time when travel and tourism professionals across the country unite to celebrate the value travel holds for our economy, businesses, and personal well-being. Visit Sugar Land is partnering up with various attractions to host a weeklong celebration culminating in a rally honoring our industry and employees.
Here's what we have planned for you during the week:
May 6-10 at 10 a.m.
***DUE TO THE RECENT RAINFALL IN THE AREA AND THE FORECAST FOR RIVER FLOODING BRAZOS BEND STATE PARK WILL BE CLOSED STARTING ON THURSDAY, MAY 9 AT 12 PM AND WILL REMAIN CLOSED THROUGH TUESDAY, MAY 15.***
Looking for a "wild" experience? You will find it at Brazos Bend State Park, just 25 minutes from Sugar Land, Texas. Marvel at nature where you can hike, bike, fish, picnic, geocache, ride your horse or stay overnight. In celebration of National Travel and Tourism, Brazos Bend State Park is extending a weeklong half mile hike led by a Ranger at the Creekfield Lake Trail.
The Creekfield hike is free with general admission into the park. Adults (13 and older) $ 7 per person and Children (12 and under) enter the park free.
Sugar Land Heritage Museum and Visitor Center (HMVC)
Travel back in time with exhibits of artifacts that trace to the evolution of Sugar Land's early days as a sugar cane plantation into one of Texas' fastest growing cities. Plus, if you stop by during National Travel and Tourism Week, you'll be entered in a giveaway to win two vouchers to a Pinot's Palette class at Sugar Land Town Square. Additionally, during your visit you can pick up Sugar Land souvenirs and gain insight to the coolest place to explore in the "Sweetest City in Texas."
I matter, you matter, everything matters. Matter is the stuff around you that has mass and takes up space, literally everything solid, liquid and gas. Visit Sugar Land is celebrating National Travel and Tourism week May 5-11, and happily, their theme is “Travel Matters". Research suggests that at HMNS at Sugar Land, science matters and is fun, too!
Come experiment with us May 9–11, and learn about matter during our “Travel Matters” celebration. Our moms definitely matter this week, so don’t miss the Saturday event where you can make a special gift for Mother’s Day for $5. We guarantee you’ll have great chemistry (and physics)!
