Making the Most of Small Business Saturday

Over the years, a nationwide shopping “holiday” called Small Business Saturday, which occurs the Saturday after Thanksgiving, has garnered a lot of attention and is great for small businesses during the busy holiday shopping season. We have decided to highlight a number of the small businesses that call Sugar Land their home sweet home.

SHOPPING

Small Business Saturday isn’t complete without a trip to a local store or boutique. You can find plenty of unique shops located at Sugar Land Town Square, like The Wearhouse, MODChic Couture, and 139Made. Both The Wearhouse and MODChic Couture specialize in women’s clothing and accessories. Stop by at either store for a wardrobe refresh or a special gift for your mother, sister, aunt, girlfriend, or spouse. If you’re looking for something that screams “Sugar Land,” stop by 139Made. This locally-owned store carries Sugar Land branded items, as well as graphic tees, stationery, and more.

No matter who’s on your holiday list, we encourage you to visit Sugar Land and check out what these small businesses have to offer. You never know what surprises await you when you #ShopLocal.

ATTRACTIONS

Fill up your holiday schedule with things to do at local Sugar Land attractions. Choose from an array of DIY craft stores, including Fire It Up Pottery & Art Studio, where you can take your craftsmanship to another level with painted pottery, a potter’s wheel, glass fusing, and jewelry making. If puzzles are your cup of tea, then solve your way through intricate backstories at Escape Again Rooms where you and your team will need to pick through the clues and escape the room before time runs out. Lastly, host your own private concert with your closest friends at Sing Along Karaoke, and let your voices soar all day and night singing to your favorite tunes.

If you want to share these experiences with someone on your holiday list, you can! Each of the places mentioned above have gift cards available for sale on-site and you can give the gift of amazing memories in the “Sweetest City in Texas.”

RESTAURANTS

The local restaurants in Sugar Land are as numerous and diverse as the people who live in the “Sweetest City in Texas.” The best place to start is with the creative confectionary artists who produce some delectable desserts for all to enjoy.

If you need a cake or cookies for any special occasion, then The Sweet Boutique is the place for you. Whether you are celebrating a birthday, wedding, graduation, or having a baby shower, they have a variety of ways to customize a cake, or even cookies. You also don’t want to miss out on their claim-to-fame mochi donuts, which come in a variety of flavors like Nutella, Ube, Thai Tea, and more!

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and there is an abundance of locations ready to help start your day. Try out a Breakfast Wrap from Bagel Express to get all of your classic scrambled eggs, hash browns, and meat in one convenient package. Or combine breakfast and lunch for brunch at TOAST with your choice of delicious sandwiches, waffles, and burgers.

International cuisine is well represented in Sugar Land because of the diverse population that resides here. While there are many places to fulfill a craving for sushi, we recommend trying local favorite, Keeper’s Japanese Restaurant and Bar and their variety of classic sashimi dishes; or indulge in the wonderful tastes of the Mediterranean at Dumar’s Mediterranean Grill and order one of their famous Gyro Wraps.
